The Senior Inventory Project Continues – Attention Everyone Who is 50 and Older

Today is the first Sunday when you can pick-up your Senior Ministry Inventory. The Senior Ministry Inventory is a research tool that provides an assessment of needs and preparedness for pre-retirement and retirement age individuals and their families. As we all are aware, the senior community (65+) is the fastest growing population segment in our nation. In addition, many individuals in their 40’s and 50’s are becoming care-givers for aging parents and other family members. The Senior Ministry Inventory can be a great help to care-giving families as well as to seniors.

A unique feature of the Senior Ministry Inventory is the reporting structure. Three reports are generated from the information gleaned from the Inventory. This is the first time that comprehensive reports have been provided to individuals who have filled-out questionnaires and inventories in the church.

First, every person who takes the Inventory receives a confidential report identifying specific life-arenas that need attention as they grow older. This confidential report will act as an alarm clock, waking individuals to life decisions that may have been neglected for too long. This is the direct benefit for all individuals who take the Inventory.

Second, every congregation receives an anonymous summary report of all Inventories completed in the congregation. This congregational report will alert our church council and ministry committees to the growing need for increased Senior Ministry in our church and community. This is the indirect benefit for all individuals who take the Inventory.

Third, a compilation report of senior needs within all the congregations in each synod will be mailed to the bishop. It is the purpose of the Inventory to act as an alarm clock and alert the synodical and national offices of the church to focus greater attention on Senior Ministry.

Pick up your copy of the Inventory at the back of the church following the service today. Complete the Inventory at home and bring it back to the church next Sunday or sometime this next week. Remember, there is a $12 processing fee for each Inventory and this will be collected when you pick up the Inventory. Thank you for your participation.
